Welcome, I am a consultant psychiatrist with a private practice in Canberra and Narooma, Far South NSW. I have been practicing in Australia for over 30 years.
I was originally trained in medicine and psychiatry in Turkey, where I practiced privately and in public hospitals, lectured at universities, conducted academic research and ran a forensic psychiatry unit.
After moving to Australia in 1984 I passed the Australian Medical Council exams for overseas qualified doctors to practice medicine in Australia and then completed another four years training to become a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. I also completed a Diploma of Adult Psychotherapy through the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy in 1999.
I had worked in public hospitals, private hospitals and three private practice locations in Canberra, Sydney and Narooma. I provided executive consulting from late 2000 in addition to my clinical work. I had been Chair of Australian Capital Territory Branch of Royal College of Psychiatrists for three years from 25 May 2020 till 1 June 2023.
I recently worked voluntarily at the eartquake disaster sites in Turkiye namely Antakya, Iskenderun and Adiyaman February-March 2023 and June-July 2023 for approximately 4 weeks each episode. Currently I continue my private practice in Canberra and Narooma.
My areas of interest are individual and group psychotherapy, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and trauma work. I hope you find my website to be a useful resource, and a way to find out more about my practice.
